2027 Ford Expedition: Trims, Lengths, Prices and Towing
The 2027 Ford Expedition is a 3-row SUV with a twin-turbo 3.5L EcoBoost V6 in every trim, and it fits families who use
the third row and owners who tow. It comes in 4 trims and 2 lengths: the standard Expedition and the longer Expedition
MAX.
Length is the decision we'd settle first. On a wheelbase 9 inches longer, the MAX gives a family 14.5 more cubic feet of
cargo space behind the third row, for $3,000 more at launch. The standard length keeps the highest 4x4 tow rating of any
Expedition and is the only way to get the off-road Tremor.
The 2 lengths compare like this at a glance.

The Expedition has been around since 1996, and Ford marks its 30th year with the 30th Anniversary Appearance
Package, offered only on Platinum. The package adds:
Anniversary badging
22-inch Ebony-painted bright-machined wheels with an anniversary center cap
Blue Ember Metallic, a color-shifting paint no other Expedition offers
Two other colors are new for 2027 on select models: Bronze Fire Metallic Tinted Clearcoat and Nocturnal Blue
Metallic.
The Expedition MAX is the long-wheelbase version of the 2027 model, and Ford offers it on every trim except Tremor.
Each MAX carries the same equipment as its trim, with one exception: 2 optional 22-inch wheels offered on Platinum
aren't available on the Platinum MAX.

Choose the standard Expedition if you tow near the top of the range with a 4x4, want the Tremor, or park in a
garage that's short on length.
Trims and Prices
The 2027 Expedition's 4 trims climb in price from Active to King Ranch, and the MAX adds the same amount to each

Every trim comes with the driver-assistance features listed under Technology and Driver Assistance, plus an 18-inch
full-size spare under the body. Ford Co-Pilot360 Active 2.0, a driver-assistance package, is optional on Active and
standard on the other 3 trims. BlueCruise, Ford's hands-free highway driving system, is also optional on Active,
while the other trims include it for a period that varies by trim. Beyond that, stepping up buys comfort and
equipment, plus off-road hardware and more power on Tremor.
Which Trim Fits You
Each 2027 Expedition trim suits a different priority, so start with the one that matters most to your family.
The most seats for the money: Active starts lowest in either length, and unlike Platinum and Tremor, it seats 8
without an option.
The stronger engine: Tremor comes with the High-Output V6, and Platinum offers it through either of 2 packages,
which makes Platinum the only way to get it in a MAX.
Driving past the pavement: Tremor carries the off-road hardware, though you can't get it as a MAX or a 4x2.
Luxury with 7 seats: King Ranch is the one to look at if Premium Del Rio leather matters more to you than an
eighth seat, which it doesn't offer.
Active
Active is the value trim, and it runs the same standard engine and carries the same tow ratings as Platinum and
King Ranch. It's the only trim that seats 8 as standard. Seats are cloth, with ActiveX seat material optional.
Standard 18-inch Dark Alloy wheels ride on all-terrain tires, and 20-inch wheels are optional.
Platinum
Platinum is the comfort trim, and it carries several options no other trim offers. It comes standard with:
Leather-trimmed captain's chairs, heated and ventilated up front and heated in the second row
Memory seats
360-Degree Zone Lighting
20-inch Ebony Bright Machined wheels
Platinum's options include:
The High-Output engine, through the Platinum Ultimate or Stealth Performance package
Active Motion massage front seats
Continuously Controlled Damping
22-inch and 24-inch wheels
The Stealth Appearance Package
The 30th Anniversary package
Tremor
Tremor is the off-road Expedition. It comes only as a 4x4 in the shorter body, with the High-Output engine and
the Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow Package as standard. Leather-trimmed captain's chairs and Ford Co-Pilot360 Active 2.0
are standard too.
Underneath, Tremor adds:
An electronic-locking rear differential with a 3.73 axle ratio
A higher-riding suspension with passive shocks
Front and transmission skid plates
Fuel-tank protection
Trail Control
Outside, it wears:
LED fog lamps
Front tow hooks
Platform running boards
18-inch Dark Carbonized Gray wheels on 33-inch all-terrain tires
These are Tremor's off-road measurements.

By comparison, the other trims in the standard body have 8.7 inches of minimum running ground clearance. Tremor's
tradeoffs are less second-row head room and a slightly lower tow rating than the other standard-length 4x4s with
the same package.
King Ranch
King Ranch comes with Premium Del Rio leather in Mesa and heated, ventilated front captain's chairs, and it seats
7 only. It also gets the B&O Unleashed sound system, a wireless charging pad and the Driver's Package as
standard, and it rides on 22-inch Sinister Bronze Diamond-Cut wheels. King Ranch uses the standard engine; the
High-Output version isn't offered on it.
Engine and Drivetrain
Each 2027 Expedition pairs a 3.5L EcoBoost V6 with a 10-speed SelectShift automatic transmission and Auto
Stop-Start. The engine comes in 2 outputs, and Ford rates both on premium fuel.

A High Flow Exhaust comes with Tremor and with either of those Platinum packages.
Tremor is 4x4 only, while the other 3 trims are offered as 4x2 or with Intelligent 4WD, which includes the Terrain
Management System and 6 selectable drive modes. Both lengths ride on independent front and rear suspension.
The EPA's estimates for the standard Expedition show little fuel economy cost to choosing 4x4.

How much a 2027 Expedition can tow depends on its length, its drivetrain and whether it has the Heavy-Duty Trailer
Tow Package, which is offered only on 4x4 models. That package is standard on Tremor and optional on the other
trims.
Each rating in this table assumes a properly equipped SUV.

Conventional towing
12,000 lb
12,500 lb
Those combined ratings explain why the MAX tows less than the standard length in one setup and more in the other.
With the Heavy-Duty package, the MAX weighs more and has the lower combined rating, so it's rated for less trailer.
With conventional towing, the MAX's higher combined rating more than covers its extra weight, so the 4x2 MAX
out-tows the standard 4x2.
Both lengths come standard with this towing equipment:
An Integrated Trailer Brake Controller
A Class IV hitch receiver
Pro Trailer Backup Assist
Pro Trailer Hitch Assist
Before you shop for a camper or a boat, check its loaded weight against the rating for the exact configuration
you're considering, and remember that passengers and cargo count against the combined rating. If you're unsure
which setup your trailer needs, ask
our team.
Seating, Third Row and Cargo
A 2027 Expedition fits 7 or 8 people, depending on the trim and the second row you choose.
Active comes with 8 seats, using a 40/20/40 split second-row bench with CenterSlide, and offers 7 as an option.
Platinum and Tremor seat 7 as standard, with power-fold tip-and-slide second-row captain's chairs, and offer 8 as
an option.
King Ranch seats 7 only, with second-row captain's chairs.
Measured row by row, the third row gives up the most in hip room.

Cargo room comes down mostly to which length you choose. Available cargo features include a powered tailgate with
upper and lower sections, Open On Approach and the Cargo Tailgate Manager.
Technology and Driver Assistance
Every trim of the 2027 Expedition comes with this technology as standard:
Ford Digital Experience
A 24-inch panoramic display that can be configured to show driving data, maps and music at eye level
A 13.2-inch center display
SiriusXM with 360L
The Ford Connectivity Package for 1 year, with a 5G Wi-Fi hotspot for up to 10 devices within 50 feet and
unlimited data
Google Play store apps and Google Maps on the center display, through the 1-year Ford Connectivity Package
The Ford Security Package for 1 year from the warranty start date, with Theft Alerts in the Ford app and 24/7
recovery agents
These driver-assistance features are standard on every trim and both lengths:
Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) with Cross-Traffic Alert and trailer coverage
Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Centering, Predictive Speed and Stop-and-Go
Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking, including Pedestrian Detection, Forward Collision Warning
and Dynamic Brake Support
Lane-Keeping System
Reverse Brake Assist
360-Degree Camera, plus Front and Rear Parking Sensors
Auto High-Beam Headlamps
Above that baseline, the trims differ on Ford Co-Pilot360 Active 2.0, BlueCruise, sound and convenience features,
and each MAX matches its trim.

Warranty
Ford's warranty on the 2027 Expedition breaks down this way.
Here in the Indianapolis metro, an Expedition's drivetrain is as big a choice as its trim. Indiana winters and
gravel county roads make the case for 4x4 on Active, Platinum or King Ranch, and Tremor's extra ground clearance
suits driving that continues past the pavement. If your miles are mostly highway and town, the EPA rates the
standard Expedition 4x2 slightly better in city and highway driving. As the only Ford dealership in Madison County,
we're glad to talk through the drivetrain choice with families from Anderson and across the metro.
Platinum gets a new 30th Anniversary package marking the Expedition's 30th year, with anniversary badging,
22-inch Ebony-painted bright-machined wheels and exclusive Blue Ember Metallic paint. Bronze Fire Metallic Tinted
Clearcoat and Nocturnal Blue Metallic are also new, on select models.
Starting MSRP at launch runs from $63,600 for the Active to $85,695 for the King Ranch MAX. Each MAX costs $3,000
more at launch than the same trim in the standard length.
The MAX rides on a wheelbase 9 inches longer and adds 14.5 cubic feet behind the third row, for $3,000 more at
launch. Tremor doesn't come as a MAX, and with the Heavy-Duty package a MAX 4x4 is rated to tow 9,000 lb instead
of 9,600 lb.
Up to 9,600 lb, when an Active, Platinum or King Ranch 4x4 in the standard length is properly equipped with the
Heavy-Duty tow package. Tremor, the MAX and 4x2 models carry lower ratings, so check the rating for the exact
configuration you're considering.
Active seats 8 as standard, and Platinum and Tremor offer 8 as an option. King Ranch seats 7 only.
With all 3 rows in use, the standard Expedition has 21.6 cubic feet of cargo room, and the MAX has 36.1. Fold
both rear rows and the space behind the front seats reaches 108.5 cubic feet, or 123.1 in the MAX.
Every trim uses a 3.5L EcoBoost V6 with a 10-speed automatic. The standard engine on Active, Platinum and King
Ranch makes 400 hp and 480 lb-ft on premium fuel. The High-Output version, standard on Tremor and optional on
Platinum, makes 440 hp and 510 lb-ft on premium fuel.
The EPA estimates 16 city, 23 highway and 18 combined mpg for the standard-length 4x2 with the 3.5L EcoBoost V6,
and 15 city, 22 highway and 18 combined mpg for the 4x4.
Platinum and Tremor include a 90-day BlueCruise trial, King Ranch includes a 1-Year + 90-Day Plan, and on Active
it's optional. BlueCruise is Ford's hands-free highway driving system, and it operates on 97% of
controlled-access highways in the US and Canada.
Ford covers it for 3 years / 36,000 miles bumper-to-bumper, and both the powertrain coverage and roadside
assistance run 5 years / 60,000 miles.
Yes. If the Expedition is more SUV than you need, the Ford Explorer is a smaller 3-row option; see
our 2026 Ford Explorer
overview.
